Assembly of the bottom plate
With its solution-oriented and proactive approach, POLYTEC contacted Total Productivity (TP) with the request to find a solution for assembling clips and nuts on the bottom plate. These clips and nuts are necessary when mounting the panel under the car. In addition, sound absorbing material should be fitted to this panel to reduce the noise level of the car.
It is required that one operator can assemble 150,000 of these assemblies per year that are guaranteed to meet the required quality and safety. In addition to the prescribed productivity target, safety in use according to CE guidelines is of course essential.
TP has developed a robot cell for this. By using a drawer system, operator and robot can work simultaneously. This achieves optimum productivity. A flex-feeder in combination with vision technology provides the robot with the right clips. Using the vision control ensures that other types of clips can be placed when desired. This makes the unit future-proof.
Flexible machine concept
After a thorough test period on location at TP, the equipment was put into production immediately after acceptance. The unit fully meets the requirements in terms of productivity and user-friendliness.
