Parallel development of product and production line
At the same time as the development of a new product, the development of the associated assembly lines was started. The aim of this exercise is to enable a rapid production start and market introduction.
A special process in which close cooperation was necessary.
thyssenkrupp Home Solutions NV from Krimpen aan den IJssel has been one of the most important players in the Dutch market of stair lifts, home lifts and platform lifts since 1953. In all products and services of thyssenkrupp Home Solutions, features such as innovation, quality, service and user-friendly technology play a major role.
Faster time to market
Thyssenkrupp and Total Productivity have taken on the challenge together in a special process, in which close cooperation is necessary. At the same time as the development of a new product, the development of the associated assembly lines was started. The aim of this exercise is to enable a faster production start and market introduction.
Remco Bliek, Project Leader of Total Productivity, comments: “Two elements are special in this project, the product must first pass the design-freeze phase for a number of details. So we have the challenge in this phase to monitor the interfaces between product and production system. In addition, it is important to continue development and construction without undue delay.”
Integration of digital work instructions
In addition, these new production lines are distinguished by the turnkey integration of VisualFactory digital work instructions. The link with the ERP system ensures that one-piece flow can be produced. The assembly operators are now presented with the order and product instructions at the right time.
Visual Factory software implements a number of lean principles-based modules, such as Andon call support and in-line quality assurance.”
