System integrator Total Productivity recently developed a fully automated flushing unit for a customer that produces plastic packaging. This flushes the packaging with nitrogen so that the product with which the packaging is eventually filled has a longer shelf life. To realize the various functions in the flush unit, the company has opted for the use of the Motion Terminal VTEM from Festo. A valve terminal whose functionality is determined using apps.
Designing and building complex production systems requires focus on improving overall productivity. We work with the customer to improve productivity. We achieve productivity by seeking the optimal balance between people (the employees present), resources (existing or required equipment) and the methodology (the way of working). For the customer 'Lightweight Containers' from Den Helder, Total Productivity from Broek op Langedijk developed a production line that produces plastic containers - KeyKeg Slimline. From blowing machine and laser cutter to ultrasonic welding installation and from conveyor belts, supply and discharge conveyors to test unit. Everything is contained in an impressive line that was developed in parallel with the product itself. Another special feature is that the line is UL certified and therefore officially suitable for use in the United States.
Building for the American market. Building an approved machine or installation for the American market is sometimes underestimated in the Netherlands. Total Productivity recently gained experience with the UL standard for the first time. The company opted for a strict project approach, in collaboration with all chain partners.
More than seven years ago, Lightweight Containers came up with the KeyKeg, the first recyclable single-use beer keg. With the same properties as a steel keg, but with great benefits for brewer, distributor and end user. Since then, a new generation of containers with even better properties has been developed. Product and production process were designed synchronously.
Not working harder, but smarter, that yields more profit. In addition, according to office furnisher Ahrend, it pays to examine especially actions that do not add value. Attention to sustainability is paramount. Together with Total Productivity, a new assembly facility (to produce 100% mix and to be able to continuously improve) has been devised and realized.
