Total Productivity then and now

Philips subsidiary

Total Productivity BV originated from the former Philips subsidiary, then located in Alkmaar. Wikipedia broadly describes this history as follows:

In 1879 the Alkmaarsche IJzer- en Metaalgieterij was founded, this factory has manufactured many products, including level crossing barriers and signaling installations for the railways. Shortly after the Second World War, Philips showed its interest in this company by acquiring 20% of the shares. In 1960 the factory became a wholly owned Philips subsidiary.

Because this Alkmaar branch of Philips also started manufacturing production machines in 1970, it provided the internal Philips factories worldwide with assembly and production systems from that time. For products such as TV, audio, video, fax machines and shavers, among others.

Total Productivity is ontstaan uit de Nederlandsche Machine Fabriek Alkmaar

1990 - Dutch Machinefabriek Alkmaar

In the early 1990s, Philips' own production installations were labeled 'non core' and became independent under the name Nederlandse Machinefabriek Alkmaar (NMA). During this period, non-Philips customers were also served within the consumer electronics sector. Examples are: Sony, Thomson, Grundig, Alcatel and Marantz.

IPA-TP takes over activities of NMA IA

IPA Total Productivity (IPA-TP) was created in 1998. It has taken over the industrial automation activity of the Dutch Machinefabriek Alkmaar.

IPA is our counterpart and now our partner and stood and still stands for unconventional ideas and an innovative approach in production automation. They concentrate on countries outside the Benelux.

2008 - Total Productivity

Total Productivity (TP) was created at the end of 2008 from IPA through a buy-out of the Benelux market.

Total Productivy has since concentrated on producing companies in the Benelux. The short distance to the customer base makes it possible to work intensively with the customer and therefore deliver optimal customization. This customization concerns not only production automations, but also process analysis and the implementation of new methodologies and people-oriented training. Total Productivity has a regular customer base from SMEs to renowned market leaders.
